At nine, Pogacar followed his older brother Tilen to join the Rog Ljubljana club. In 2011 he came to the attention of road world championship medalist Andrej Hauptman, his coach, head coach, and selector for the Slovenian national cycling team until 2021. Tadej Pogacar Professional career

Pogacar joined United Arab Emirates Team Emirates for the 2019 season. He made his debut for the team at the Tour Down Under, where he finished 13th overall. He went on to win the Volta ao Algarve, taking the race lead after winning the second stage. He also finished sixth at the Tour of the Basque Country.
