Alexander Volkanovski Early Life
Alex began training in Greco-Roman wrestling early and won two national titles at the age of 12. He decided to quit wrestling at 14 and instead focused on a career in rugby league as a front-rower.
He played in the semi-professional rugby league for the Warilla Gorillas in the South Coast Rugby League. He won the Mick Cronin Medal in 2010 as the best player in the league. He also played a crucial role in Warrior’s 2011 Premiership-winning season and won the Man of the Match award for his team’s grand final win against Gerringong.
