Tennis

Tennis is an Olympic sport played at all levels of society and at all ages. The modern game of tennis originated as lawn tennis in Birmingham, England, in the late 19th century.

Tennis is a racket sport played individually against a single opponent or between two teams of two players. Each player uses a tennis racket to hit a hollow rubber ball attached to a cord over or around the net and into the opponent’s court. The game’s object is to drive the ball, so the opponent cannot play a valid return.
