Rory McIlroy Early life and family

Professional golfer Rory McIlroy was born on May 4, 1989, in Hollywood, United Kingdom. Rory McIlroy is the only child of his parents, Gary McIlroy and Rosie MacDonald. He has no siblings.

For his education, Rory McIlroy attended St. Patrick’s Primary School and then Sullivan Upper School.

At an exceptionally young age, he was introduced to golf by his father, who gave him coaching. Gerry McIlroy is a good golfer who once played at the Scratch Handicap level. He asked to take his father to the Hollywood Golf Club virtually daily. Family legends say he received a new golf club as a gift, was shown the correct grip by his father, and then took the club to bed with him that night, holding the club properly in his hand. McIlroy joined the Hollywood Golf Club and became the club’s youngest member at the age of seven. His early favourite was a video on golf techniques produced by champion Nick Faldo.

McIlroy’s father quit several jobs to earn extra money for his son’s golf development. His mother worked extra shifts at the local 3M plant. McIlroy’s first significant international victory came at the World Championships for the 9-10 age group at Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami, Florida. He learned his elementary golf at the Hollywood Golf Club, which he still holds as his home course. Professional career


McIlroy became a professional on 18 September 2007, the day before the Quinn Direct British Masters. He has signed a contract with International Sports Management. In the Queen Direct British Masters, McIlroy shot 290 (+2), which tied him in 42nd place. He finished 3rd at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in October; He has earned a tour card as the youngest affiliate member in the history of European tours.
