Baseball
Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of nine players. A player from the fielding team called the pitcher, throws a ball that a player from the batting team tries to hit with the bat—a run scores when a runner legally advances around the bases and touches home plate.
Baseball evolved from the old bat-and-ball game in England in the mid-18th century. This game was brought to North America by immigrants. By the late 19th century, baseball was widely recognized as the national sport of the United States. However, modern times, it is considered less popular than other sports, such as American football. In addition to North America, baseball is the most popular sport in Central and South America, the Caribbean, and East Asia, particularly Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.
